MARLENA MCEACHRON, PSYD, OWNER, LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Marlena McEachron is the owner of Northstar Center and is licensed clinical psychologist in Loudoun County, Virginia. She provides individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults who experience symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and trauma.  ​Dr. McEachron's approach to therapy is based in science and aimed to decrease symptoms as soon as possible. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and mindfulness-based approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Stress-Reduction (MBSR).   In the therapy room, Dr. McEachron creates a warm and inviting space. Her approach is compassionate and nonjudgmental, a safe space for self-exploration and healing. ​While Dr. McEachron's interest in psychology began prior to college, her formal education in psychology began at George Mason University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She went on to earn a master’s degree and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology, Washington D.C.Her doctoral Internship was completed at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW), where she provided individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed with severe mental illness. She also provided group therapy to adult trauma survivors who were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, The Center: Posttraumatic Disorders inpatient program and to the partial hospitalization program.  Dr. McEachron has worked in various mental health settings including private practices in Washington D.C. and Fairfax County, Children's National Medical Center, Outpatient Clinic, and psychiatric inpatient hospitals.
